"Clarens is 'n pragtige, skoon dorpie.
"Beautiful scenery and we had a great breakfast at the Plaas Stoep on our way out which was also dog-friendly. We were only there one night but it looked like a really small peaceful town."
"Lochs Hoek about 4 kms away has a lovely atmosphere, a wedding venue and a petting farm for the kids. Good meals and are well organized during load shedding. The planetarium is only open on Saturdays despite what the website says and the restaurant inside the botanical gardens has closed too, but still a nice walk through the gardens. Plenty of other good places to eat at."
"Lovely little town with wonderful, clearly marked, hiking trails. Lots of different restaurants to choose from and little shops to browse. Close enough for a weekend visit from Johannesburg."
"Very quaint town with not many activities, however a great place to just enjoy away from the city. Quiet, uninterrupted weekends."
"The town is quirky and has spent a lot of time thinking of ways to attract tourists."
"I cannot rate Bloemfontein as a whole as I am not familiar with Bloem, but the area we were staying at was very calming."
"Clarens deserves the name "Jewel of the Free State"! It's unlike anywhere you have been before! A long weekend is not enough to fully enjoy this enigmatic town. So so much to see and do there!"
"The mountain views are breathtaking. Great spot to escape to and recharge."
