Firstly, bear in mind that this was a stormy and rainy two weeks on the KZN North and South coasts. Most sea view establishments are on slopes and constant heavy rain carries sand and deposits it on roads, other properties, etc. I spoke to our caretaker in Manaba, who accompanied the customer into the flat. She stated that one rubbish bag had been left neatly in the garage by a previous tenant instead of walking 12 meters and placing it in the refuse area. There was some sand on the large driveway leading into the garage, carried from the neighbouring complex by the rain. This was cleaned by the resident worker the following day. The overflowing refuse bin at the pool was addressed when the resident worker came on site the next day. Our caretaker stated that all the 'litter, unkempt and filthy' issues were greatly exaggerated.
The bar fridge was clean (a little yellow due to age and sun damage). Unfortunately, it was raining every day during the customer's stay. The cause of lack of TV was due to an oxidised, damaged cable leading from the antenna to our flat. The rain had penetrated the cable. The technician could not work during the rain. The problem was repaired on Friday afternoon (after the rain had stopped) - the day the customer left.
I'm sorry that the customer had a bad experience, but my understanding is that she was unable to go out with her children, as her ailing mother did not want to leave the flat and did not want to be left alone.
We run a neat establishment, but Murphy's law says that some person will come along and everything will not be to their personal standards. Such is life.
