Hi John. Thanks for the feedback. There are just a few issues you raised that I would like to respond to. The pool had a bit of sand on the surface that my son did not vacuum. There could have been some leaves in the water because we have trees right next to the pool. I am now back home and will make sure the pool is vacuumed every day. As for the water itself, it is still clear and not dirty. As for the exposed plug, the electrician forgot to put the cover back.
John, I asked the current people in the room if there is any mould smell and their answer was a definitive no. As for the blocked basin you refer to, it is not blocked. It just runs out slowly. The plumber working at my house today checked the basin and confirmed that it is not blocked. Everyone that stayed in that room the past few months gave me rave reviews. In fact, the room you stayed in is one of the 'guests preferred' rooms on Airbnb with a five-star rating. Not sure why you refer to the area you drove through in all but 40 seconds as a 'rough' area. Maybe where you come from you don't live next to or close to a township. It is a low income housing area. In Hout Bay, the 2 townships are close to the more affluent areas. That is the reality of South Africa. As for your comment re 'the place is a bit run down' well, I looked at all the reviews in the last 6 months. No one shares your view on my place. I have comments like 'great value for money', 'beautiful place', 'it looks like an art gallery'. A pilot that stayed with us called it 'the best place he has ever stayed'
I fully understand that you are not going to satisfy every guest. When I look at all my reviews on the various sites, you are clearly an outlier. Thanks, in any case, for the review.
