Elegant accommodation. Very nice apartment with lovely wood floors, Persian carpets and tasteful modern furnishings. As we have found before in South Africa, pay a bit more and you get a lot more. Very well equipped, and within walking distance to restaurants (safe too!). The owner was flexible and accommodating. My only quibble is that there's only one comforter in a double room, so I had to pull out the sleeping bag (Cape Town winter is pretty chilly)!

So sorry that we did not know about you not being warm enough. Did you see the blankets in the room? I am originally from Denmark, so we use the same duvets as used there, and I expected them to be warm enough. Glad you enjoyed your stay apart from that. Best regards Rita

Hierdie was ons 2de besoek aan Barry Hall Apartments, waar ons 1ste besoek heerlik was, was hierdie besoek nie so lekker nie. Soos gemeld was ons baie gelukkig met ons besoek in September 2022. Ons het 'n bespreking gemaak vir my familie om almal saam daar te bly op die onlangse besoek. Op die 1ste aand het die bestuurderes my gebel om 9:30 en beskuldig dat ons geraas maak en die bure gaan die polisie bel - ons was reeds almal om 09:00 in die bed! Sy het nie eers gevra of dit ons is nie, net vreeslik afgegaan oor ons raas - hoewel sy die volgende dag verskoning gevra het, was ek baie teleurgesteld was met hoe sy die aangeleentheid hanteer het. Die volgende dag het sy weer gebel en gesê die ander gesin wat daar oorslaap het gekla die deur en hek staan oop - weereens net beskuldig en nie gevra of dit ons was nie - ons het onder geen omstandighede die deur of hek oopgelos nie! 1 van ons gaste het wel iemand afgesien in die straat, maar hy was by die hekkie te alle tye, so weet nie of dit dan was nie, maar soos gemeld was ek weereens nie kans gegee om iets te sê nie, net beskuldig. Wat nog meer vreemd was is die ander gesin het die vorige aand toe ons ingekom het teen 08:30 het die vrou die man alleen laat uitgaan in die straat - sy het gesê sy gaan tuisbly - so kan nie verstaan dat hulle dink dis veilig om in die nag alleen (en hulle is oud) in die strate rond te loop nie, maar wil kla as die voordeur oop is in die dag - maak net nie sin nie. Dit was nie 'n plesier om daar te bly nie en ek sal beslis dit nie aanbeveel na die behandeling wat ons daar ontvang het nie.

Dear Ina, Without going in to too much detail, I just wish to state that your party booked all of Barry Hall for the weekend. Only 2 American guests were staying at Barry Hall other than yourselves at that time. They in turn complained about the gate being left open, I can/could only surmise that it would have to be someone from your party having accidentally left the gate open, as nobody else was staying there. I received complaints from both our neighbors around 2130 threatening to call the police due to noise at Barry Hall I was told I do not live anywhere near Barry Hall, (Camps Bay) and have to rely on what I hear. So apologies if/that was not your party making the noise, but unfortunately I was asked to act. Regards Rita Turner

Ons familie het baie lekker gekuier. Die "host" was ongelukkig onbehulpsaam met een van ons versoeke. Ek het gevra of sy ons kan uithelp met steak messe vir steak braai en lang glase en sy het eenvoudig net gesê die huis het nie. Sonder om ons te probeer help. Een van die woonstelle se beddens is verkeerd gelys op die webtuiste. Die een king-size bed was twee enkelbeddens in twee verskillende vertrekke. Die braaigeriewe kort aandag. Die groot konstruksie langs die eenheid waar Vrydag en Saterdag gewerk is, was steurend. Andersins, netjiese, groot woonstelle. Ons het lekker gekuier.

Dear Elizna, Apologies for replying in English, my Danish is better than my Afrikaans. I am very sorry that my response to your request for steak knives and different glasses was seen as being unhelpful, your request was received early Saturday night. Unfortunately too late to buy any, if I owned some myself, I would of course have brought them, but I do own any. So as to cater for guests who require separate beds as well, we have 2 single beds in some of the bedrooms with converters, which should make for a comfortable sleep for 2. Thank you for your comment regarding our gas braai, it is rarely used at Barry Hall, your comment will be investigated. The construction in the adjoining property is luckily nearing its completion but for now, unfortunately is out of our control. Regards, Rita Turner

Good location, comfortable and spacious apartment. We felt that the kitchen appliances should be upgraded: The kettle leaked and the stove top heated very slowly. Extra blankets should be available in case of weather changes. Availability of parking places is a limitation.

Barry Hall is very centrally located, close to shops and 2 blocks from the beach! Flat 3 is very spacious and comfortable for 2 adult couples. There is a very big apartment building going up, next door, so the construction noise is real, starts at 06H00 and stops at 18H00 on Saturdays - very noisy, if you want to work from the flat. We also found the flat not clean - stove, microwave and bathrooms can do with some deep cleaning. There was a spill of something under the washbasin in our bathroom - looks very suspect.

Presies waarna ons gesoek het. Ons was daar vir die fiets toer. Naby aan die promenade, kon lekker met fiets stadion toe en terug ry. Net jammer ons was nie ingelig oor bouwerk aan perseel langsaan, groot masjien, baie lawaai vir die volgende drie jaar.

Sorry for not replying in Afrikaans, my Danish and English is better. I believe we are over the worst with the adjoining property building operations, and that the total building time will be shortened considerably due to change of plans. Where possible we offer upgrades when needed. to adjoining apartments with less noise exposure at no extra cost.
