Dee Dee delightful stay! Dee Dee was such a wonderfully hospitable hostess! Our booking was very last minute (booking confirmed on the day of check-in) and she was only too willing to accommodate us - she even made a plan to prepare dinner for us! We had seen on other reviews that her meals are amazing and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the separate cottage - love the layout and decor and we honestly had a superb night's sleep! It was my first time travelling through Smithfield and it's places and people like this that make exploring our off the beaten track small towns so special and rewarding. Highly recommended stay. And Buddy the Lab is so lovely.

A perfect half way stop between Joburg and Makhanda. We will be back! We were warmly welcomed by Dee Dee and had a delightful stay, including a great vegetarian evening meal (booked in advance) and breakfast.

We will return. Our little cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we needed, including underfloor heating and electric blankets. We had a three-course meal with the host, which was delicious!

Beautiful garden, stimulating conversations, you feel at home. We received a very warm welcome and were lovingly cooked for. The accommodation had everything you need for a stay.

Lekker kuier. We arrived in the early afternoon, Dee Dee met us, filled us in on what we needed to know, and we spent the afternoon relaxing and reading in a lovely space. Dinner is best described as a "lekker kuier", the food was delicious and the company engaging. We will be back.

An enjoyable stop over. We had a lovely mutton curry supper and a superb evening chatting with Dee Dee. I think our Airedale terrier enjoyed the stay more than we did.

Fantasties. Was 'n ongelooflike gasheer en ons het haar kos ongelooflik baie geniet. Kamer was skoon en gerieflik.

Comfortable and quiet, with a charming garden and good food on a lovely terrace. Altogether a very pleasant stay, we hope to visit Black Cottage again on our next visit.
