Peace and quiet. Lovely staff and hosts. Most beautiful place on Vaal Oewer. So quiet and relaxing with an amazing view of the river. Loved the hosts. Chef prepared excellent hearty meals. Also, a very friendly barman. Bar built on water so you sip your cocktail overlooking calm river. Thanks much. P.S. Well-kept gardens all over.

Baie lekker. Thanks, and I will give the staff 5 stars. They are friendly, gracious, and humble. The service is excellent, and not to mention the great food and the experience of being on a cruise on the river. Please can you add this to the review? Uiters teleurstellend vir die prys wat ons betaal het. Klippaadjies is ongelyk en moeilik om op te loop. Die Executive Suite het nie voldoen aan veiligheidvereistes nie. Daar is geen relings by die trappe nie en die teëls op die trappe na die badkamer is glad. Die sitkamer was ingerig vir ekstra slaapplek, alhoewel ons net 3 mense was en daar was twee kamers (sonder kaste). Daar was geen televisie nie.

Hi Linda Many thanks for your review and I'm so sorry for your bad experience. Sadly we are not wheelchair/walker friendly and have never claimed to be. You said that you mentioned in your enquiry that you had your 87 year old mother with you who uses a walker, but I can find no record of that. I also advertise on my website that the rooms do not have TV in them, but there are TVs in the pubs. I have offered you a free weekend for when you don't have your mother with you, and when you refused, I did refund you. Kind regards Anne

Never again at this place from this past weekend's experience. My wife and I will never visit this place again. The cabin 1 that we stayed in is OK, not bad, but the bathroom is in a terrible state. Cleanliness is 0 for us. I asked to move to another room the next day and the cleanliness in that room was worse. The drain for the shower was not working. The basins in both rooms are dirty and looked like they have never been cleaned in 2 months or so. Overall we expected to have a nice weekend but my wife was so unhappy. The staff (manager) was a nice guy, but the place to stay I would not recommend again.

Dear Rikesh. We value your review and take full notice of your grievance. I would have expected you to come immediately and address the issue directly, and we could have handled it there and then and made your experience enjoyable or we would have come up with another solution to have made you happy. We are sorry that you have had a bad experience. We have double-checked the shower drain, and it is fully functional. As for the cleanliness part, we do make sure that our place is clean and once again express our sincere apology that this was not to your satisfaction. Also, our place is rustic, and we are in the process of upgrading after we had to endure the closure during Covid. Often, guests mix the rustic or older finishes with it being not clean. Hi Corne Thank you for your honest review and my apologies for the condition you found the lodge in. I have just had to take the lodge back from someone who had signed a rental agreement for 18 months, as well as a sale agreement, and who ended up not paying me. I was shocked by the condition of the place as well, but already in the process of getting our beautiful lodge back to the condition it was before. Next time you book, I will be offering you a discount for all the discomfort you endured. Kind regards Anne

Lekker gekuier en baie vriendelike personeel. Hele paar visse ook gevang! Mense met treilers of 'n groot opstel vir visvang sal nie gemaklik kan visvang binne Candy's Lodge self nie, maar eerder op die oewer buite die logde. Dis net omdat 'n mens nie die treiler kan parkeer by jou visvang site nie. Daar is parkering naby maar 'n mens sal alles moet indra. Lapa 3 se badkamer was bietjie ongemaklik met trappies en min spasie maar vir 'n naweek weg sal dit nie so baie pla nie. Ons het ons naweek geniet en lekker visgevang. Dankie aan Anne en haar broer en groete aan klein Prinses Daisy die woef.

Tuine en omgewing regtig netjies. Personeel baie vriendelik en behulpsaam. Dink net hulle kan regtig bietjie aandag gee aan die houthuisies, die badkamers is probleem, baie verouderd, kort bietjie opgradeer. Anders het ons regtig lekker gebly, my man het ook voorstel aan Allan gemaak oor ekstra rak vir kombuis-gedeelte.
