Description

Located just outside of Pietermaritzburg, Cumberland Nature Reserve offers lovely camping accommodation situated on a 570-hectare farm boasting acacia woodland, spectacular red cliffs, deep forested valleys and waterfalls on the Umgeni and Rietspruit Rivers.

This property offers Rietspruit Campsite which has a capacity of 15 guests, Saligna Wild Campsite and Uzavolo Campsite which can both accommodate 8 guests. Rietspruit has 2 private ablution buildings with showers, while the other 2 campsites have private outdoor showers. All 3 campsites do not have electricity; however, gas geysers provide hot water. Each site also has braai facilities.

All guests have full access to the property's communal swimming pool to cool off. The Umgeni River forms part of the boundary of the Reserve and is home to many species of freshwater fish as well as some resident crocodiles. This property is also part of a 3500-hectare Conservancy bordering the reserve so one can gaze beyond the borders onto more beautiful bush and farmland beyond.
