Fantastic. Would do it again. It was a blessing from heaven above, not only was it a lovely place with beautiful breakfasts, the staff and employees go out of their way to make you feel at home. Thanks to the team for making our stay in Stellenbosch so memorable.

Lovely little place. Nice location to explore Stellenbosch. There was no fuss. The morning breakfast is a great addition to the stay.

Jaco wat ons ontvang het is uitstekend. Hy het ook vir ons alles gewys, ekstra komberse gebring en die ontbyt wat bedien word is fantasties. Die plekkie is op die hoek van Hoof- en Mill-straat. Daar is 'n heerlike balkon om op te sit en die studente te sien. Alles is bymekaar en Jason het ook vir ons veilige parkering gereël in die straat af. Ons het 'n restaurant wat hy aanbeveel het besoek, die Springbokke sien wen teen Nieu-Seeland. En ons het heerlik gestap, kerke afgeneem, galerye besoek en alles was net heerlik.

Stellenbosch has become very vogue; we feel we stayed in the real Stellenbosch. Warm, welcoming with a certain berg-air wistfulness about it. de Oude Meul Guest House is not your flash, modern apartment block; it is a monument building made of stone and clay, with thick walls and narrow stairways. It has character, history, and so much more. We loved it. They were so accommodating too. I traveled with my mum; an extra bed was put in the room for convenience (so we didn't have to share the double), and upon request, plenty of bags of Five Roses Tea and Rooibos for said mother who loves her tea! When you walk into the Café for breakfast, you get the distinct feeling of familiarity; these aren't all just random customers off the street, but many regulars, some who have become friends as handshakes and pleasantries are exchanged. Although we were tourists, sitting in the Café, we didn't feel touristy and felt a bit like extended family as we called it "home" when roaming the streets of Stellenbosch. You are incredibly central when you stay at de Oude Meul Guest House. You must take this into account when booking because with the convenience also comes the commotion. It can get a bit noisy at night depending on when you travel. Pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper or get uptight about lack of sleep when on holiday. Remember you are in the heart of the city, and the city is to be enjoyed by the revelers. I am not much of a night reveler (anymore) but simply enjoyed the city commotion as part of the experience and then snuck in an afternoon power nap if I felt a deterioration in my mood. Jason, the owner of de Oude Meul Guest House, is a fountain of knowledge with regards to the history of the area and has lots of quirky stories and tales. His deep-set eyebrows and grumpy façade are just that - a façade. A great sense of humour sits behind those eyebrows. Ask lots of questions. We found him a wonderful host.

Goeie verblyf naby universiteit. Dit was gemaklik en naby alles. Die parkering is te ver weg.

Convenient location - quirky. The guest house is located in the middle of town, making it an easy walk to Dorp St restaurants, which is great. It's noisy though, but to be expected at that location. The room I stayed in felt like it needed a deep clean and some TLC. The mattress was okay but could be better. The aircon worked well, which was appreciated, as was the good WiFi! I battled unlocking and locking the inner door at street level - not great if you're wanting to get inside quickly. The key worked, but I had to fiddle each time. There was no in-room safe for a laptop - maybe that's a Joburg thing .

Gawe mense, maar baie gemiddelde fasiliteite. Nie so baie lekke nie. Die bestuurder is baie gaaf en vriendelik, maar om die verblyf as 'n gastehuis te beskryf, is nie heeltemal akkuraat nie, dis eerder gastekamers in 'n ou gebou in die middedorp. Dis inderdaad sentraal geleë, maar dis bedags baie raserig. Snags is dit beter. Die kamers self is skoon, maar alles is baie afgeleef en kan regtig doen met bietjie opknapping. Toegang tot die kamers kan problematies wees vir mense wat nie meer so vreeslik mobiel is nie en/of swaar bagasie het. Daar is slegs een steil, smal trap na bo. Die ontbyt word in 'n oop restaurant op straatvlak bedien, is lekker en bediening oor die algemeen flink.

Plek is verwaarloos, reën in. Slegste ervaring nog ooit, kan nie weer gebruik.

Teleurstellend. Gaan besoek gerus self die Oude Meul. Die ligging was baie goed, maar die ingang het so gestink dat ons letterlik die trappe moes op hardloop. Die laaste dag het daar maggots op die mat geloop. Ons was aanbeveel om asb die lugverkoeling af te sit gedurende die nag, dit trek te veel elektrisiteit. Dit was 34° plus buite. Die handdoeke was so dun soos lakens. Daar was nie 'n hand-handdoekie of toiletborsel nie. Die handdoeke is gewas en half droog gemaak, dus het dit muf geruik. Die "hangkas" met 6 hangers in vir 2 mense se sleutel was papier wat opgevou is en tussen die deure ingedruk is. Die matras en linne het beslis beter dae gesien. Die meubels is antiek, maar afgeskeep en oud. Dit is slegs een kamer se terugvoer. Ons moes 2 blokke vêr parkeer. Ons het van Mosselbaai gereis en dus het ons alles by ons gehad. Ons moes dit alles aflaai en in ons kamers stoor, aangesien daar gesê is die parkering is "redelik" veilig. Ons het egter 'n plan gemaak en by 'n kunsgalery gestop om af te laai en kamers toe te dra. Die ontbyt elke oggend was egter heerlik. Soos ek reeds aanbeveel het, julle kan gerus self die plek besoek en dan self besluit of dit geskikte verblyf is. Ek is diep teleurgestel deur die Oude Meul.
