Description
Die Waenhuis Gastehuis is a lovely guest house on Caledon Street in George.
The 170-year-old house consists of 11 en-suite guest rooms, each with a different style and character. The rooms are furnished with double or twin beds, and the bathrooms either have a shower, or a bath and a shower. Percale linen and bamboo towels are provided. Each of the rooms is equipped with a TV with DStv and have Wi-Fi access. Tea and coffee facilities and sherry carafes are also available. The rooms also have heaters or underfloor heating, and some of the rooms are air-conditioned. Bar fridges and safes are available in some of the rooms, and one room also has a cosy fireplace.
The guest house also has a lounge with Victorian fireplace where they can relax on chilly or rainy days, as well as an honesty bar. The breakfast room features a Dover stove, and here guests can enjoy a farm-style breakfast. Breakfast can also be enjoyed on the patio in the garden. Breakfast consists coffee, home baked bread and croissants, home made preserves, a selection of cold meats and cheeses. A cooked breakfast is available on request.
The garden offers a tranquil break from a busy day with its trees, the variety of flower species and inviting pool. A conference venue for a maximum of 24 people is available for training, functions and meetings with catering if needed.
Die Waenhuis Gastehuis is ideally situated for tourists as well as corporate guests, who visit the Garden Route. Various beaches, such as Herolds Bay, Glentana and Victoria Bay, are all within driving distance, and George also offers lovely hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Guests can also visit the local golf course for a few rounds park, go quad biking, surfing, diving fishing and more or visit Silver Lily Cheese Farm or Redberry Farm which offers a variety of activities such as a hedge maze, bubble ball, and strawberry picking.
