Wow, I find it hard to reconcile Mrs Stamper's comments with my own experiences. I'm speechless at her claim of 'apartheid still exists,' as all my garden flats were occupied by guests of the same race as her. Over the past 35 years, 90% of my guests have been from the same racial background. I don't understand where this is coming from. I should note that I grew up on a farm, fluently speak Xhosa, and appreciate all races.
I personally welcomed both ladies and offered my assistance as they were keen to attend a meeting and were running late. My helper, Cynthia, helped them carry some of their luggage to their garden flat.
Having full occupancy, I asked Mrs Stamper to park inside my yard behind my own car, to utilise the limited parking, ensuring there are no cars left outside on the street. I don't want any of my guests to feel there is no parking available if two cars are already parked. She parked at her convenience with no issues.
All my outdoor facilities are for shared use, including the pool and the portable braai. Mrs Stamper's friend enquired about using the swimming pool which is adjacent to my another garden flat, and I only requested that they give the guests in that flat their space, as their seating area is outside the flat. Every garden flat has its own private seating area.
There has never been an issue with cooking facilities in my garden flats. I'm astounded at how my words have been misconstrued to imply that I discourage cooking. It's far from true; I have numerous long-term guests, often workers from companies, who cook regularly in my flats with no issues at all.
The air conditioner was not functional, but a fan was available as in other flats, and there haven't been any complaints about this arrangement. The TV was functioning! My garden flats are separate from each other, so I am unsure how Mrs Stamper knows that some TVs weren't working.
