We are sad to see that your stay was unpleasant. Our main goal is to ensure that our guests are comfortable. The welcome note on the desk in your room could have shed some light on your questions regarding a hairdryer. I was not afforded the luxury of showing you the rest of the facilities available to you free of charge. The website alert guests that there are steps because the guesthouse has multiple levels. Our solar system offers back-up power to our guests. Complimentary tea / coffee tray in your room was refused by saying “don’t worry about us”. A fully equipped kitchen was also available with unlimited filter water, tea / coffee / rooibos, milk, sugar, rusks and biscuits. Guests often decline tea or coffee because they prefer juice or water. A free wi-fi call to a 24-hour emergency number was also available to discuss any difficulties. Offers to carry luggage was refused because “you had another appointment” and “were in a hurry”. After realising that you were confused about the guesthouse and the room that was booked, we offered other (unlisted) rooms free of charge, but this offer was declined, saying “don’t bother”. For an unknown reason the gentleman specifically warned us of his ”short fuse” and threatened “to hit my husband so hard that he wouldn’t get up again”. My husband fetched a panic button to alert armed response of a possible threat for the first time in 23 years. This could have been interpreted as “not wanting to open the gate” after which the gentleman threatened “to show us what he will do to our gate”. It is a pity that our efforts to ensure your comfort were interpreted as being intrusive. We are not always aware of guests’ circumstances and why they travel to another province, but we sincerely hope and trust that things will improve drastically for you.
