Kamer was skoon en netjies. Baie gerieflik om 'n restaurant byderhand te hê. Baie lekker geslaap. Kamer en badkamer is gerieflik en gemaklik.

Gesellig en Middelburg was 'n verrassing. Moeite werd om daar oor te slaap. Baie mooi historiese gebou.

Baie lekker, skoon, netjies, vriendelik. Baie lekker gebly, die kos by die restaurant was heerlik en die personeel baie vriendelik en behulpsaam.

Not bad. Stay was good, however security can really be upgraded at the restaurant area, especially with people walking in and out on a Saturday evening. Some very unsavoury characters, who were obviously not there for a meal.

Was skoon en die kos was heerlik. Die ontvangs was vriendelik en in Afrikaans. Die restaurant was skoon en netjies en die kos is waarde vir geld.

Pleasantly surprised! We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Karoo Country Inn Hotel. I was hesitant to book here due to the past reviews, but trust me when I say some are overdramatic. We stayed in the Suite and it was spotless when we arrived and smelled so nice! The room is very large and it has a lovely living room and large bathroom and access to a very private spot on the balcony. Positives: Clean, large, dustless room (we checked the headboards, no dust whatsoever). Staff made sure we came home to a clean room, fresh towels and restocked coffee cabinet every day. Bed was very comfortable and the linens were spotless, crisp white and high quality. Staff is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Safe parking inside. Negatives: The restaurant is overly expensive for a small town such as Middelburg. The shower was unusable due to its poor water pressure so could only take baths. We didn't have hot water for one night but the rest of the nights were completely fine. No telephone in the room so no room service was available. Some maintenance is required. A few of the lamps didn't have bulbs and the mirror had water stains on it, no hot/cold indicators on the taps. Small things like that. No generators, but there was a loadshedding light in the room which helped a lot. The hotel is meant to be old school and it only has old furniture in it, but it's beautiful and nostalgic that way. It's not fair to expect something that is 172 years old to be modern. Overall we had a lovely experience and will book again in the future!

Everything you need for an overnight stay while traveling. This is not a luxury establishment: it is an old building, heavy on old-world charm and light on modern fixtures and amenities. But: it's perfectly located if you're traveling between Gauteng and the Garden Route, it's very affordable, staff are extremely friendly and helpful, there's a lovely restaurant and bar on the premises and a cool and sparkling pool, and air conditioning (important for any stay in the Karoo). The place works hard at giving you a good experience, everything is clean, and it's safe and quiet. Recommended overnight possibility.
