Immersive bush getaway. The overall stay was excellent. The unit was exactly as pictured, so no unwelcome surprises there. The unit did not have WiFi (parents please note!) and the DStv did not work on arrival - the DStv was quickly sorted out on day 2 after it was reported at reception. The unit is fully equipped with everything one would need, including an inverter which proved useful during a prolonged electricity outage. I would request that the owners please leave detailed usage instructions for the gas stove which we could not get to work (don’t know if the gas was depleted? Don’t know if the shut-off valves were in the open or closed positions? I tried many permutations. "Open/close" signs are welcome). A complimentary bag of wood would also be a nice touch considering that the reception and convenience store is a 20-minute drive. The location of Makhato 12 is the best part, but also a slight pain: it’s isolated enough to be surrounded by bush and wildlife. I mean, giraffes right outside your door is an amazing sight! The price you pay for this immersion in the bush is that you are a long way away from the amenities found at the reception area i.e. bike rental, heated pool, quad bikes and the restaurant. There are 2 cold water pools conveniently located close to the unit, however. The thatch roof did let in some unwelcome drips in the living area during heavy rain - noteworthy but not a deal breaker. Cleaning staff were on point as well!

Lekker ontspan! Makhato 12 is 'n heerlike huis wat baie goed ingerig is. Ons het vreeslik reën gekry en dus die lapa baie geniet. Dit was ook lekker koud en die kaggel in die huis was heerlik. Die enigste klagte wat ons het is dat die rooster in die lapa nie in die braai pas nie.
