Fantastiese verblyf in 'n prentjie mooi omgewing! Ons sal sonder twyfel weer by Matjiesvlei Retreat 1945 aanklop! Die kommunikasie van ons gasvrou was vroegtydig deurgestuur met duidelike aanwysings. Ons het tot voor die deur gery- sonder gesukkel (en sonder GPS!). Dit is voorwaar 'n huis weg van die huis waar jy met die intrapslag tuis is. Lieflike kuier kombuis en ook 'n heerlike leef stoep met fantastiese braaigeriewe.

Beautiful, tranquil among the olive groves and mountains. House was clean, the beds super comfy and warm, the finishing touches were perfect, and the decor was original, quirky, and lovely. Everything was thought of to make one's stay homely, comfortable and extremely enjoyable. Would love to go back again and stay longer.

Clean, comfortable, homely. This unit is so well-maintained and clean, but fabulously homely. The location is extraordinary. One of the best places we've ever stayed at. A pity we had to leave so soon. Thank you for hosting us!

Beautifully appointed and maintained retreat in a very dry inspiring remote Swartbergvalley. As a couple in our early 80s we found the overnight stay to be an ideal break from the long road trip. A very peaceful, off the beaten track remote breakaway 3 bedroom house ideal for 3 couples or family group to get back in to the world that has gone by. Relax, braai, walk, smell the spekboom and wonder at the spectacular mountains. Lovely, well-appointed veranda and covered braai for any weather and loadshedding! Thank you to the Nel family for opening your special retreat to us. Suggestions: I couldn't find out approximately where it was before booking, thought it was near Matjesrivier at the bottom of the Swartberg Pass. But after the booking I got good directions. When finding 1945 and the lockbox on the veranda, I was too incompetent to know how to open a lock box for the first time. I needed to flip up the black cover to expose the code wheels not push it! Also, missed the very non intrusive 1945 marking on the mile stone first time. (The house between the large new Guest House and Swartskaap at the end of the track). I will definitely try to return with friends or family.

Die huis was pragtig skoon en baie goed toegerus. Die omgewing is pragtig en heerlik stil. Aanwysings het ontbreek nadat ons van die teerpad af is en daar was nie selfoonontvangs op die grondpad sodat ons kon uitvind hoe ver en waar ons huis is nie.

Heerlike wegbreek weg van die stad se geraas. As mens wil ontsnap van die woelige stadslewe, is hierdie die plek om heen te gaan. Die stilte en skoonheid van omgewing was betowerend! Ons het baie lekker gebly. Die kwaliteit van die beddegoed en handdoeke laat Matjiesvlei Retreat 1945 uitstaan bo ander plekke.

Absolute gemak in 'n nostalgiese plaashuis omring deur die mooiste natuurskoon. Die pragtige ou geboue, so mooi gerestoureer, genestel in die diep klowe met prentjiemooi uitsigte van aalwyne en rantjies en olyfboorde, absolute balsem vir 'n gekneusde stadsiel! Dis baie besonders.

Rustige, skoon natuuromgewing, perfek om te ontspan na die staff se geraas. Meer aanwysisgs borde op pad na bestemming sal baie help, veral as jy nie bekend is met die omgewing nie en aanstons arriveer, met geen telefoonsein om enige een te kontak nie, maar was baie dankbaar om WiFi tot ons beskikking te hê nadat ons arriveer het.

Nice farm retreat to get away from everything. The place is exactly as advertised and we enjoyed our stay in this secluded valley. What did we struggle with: 1). Bedroom 2 linen was not clean. 2). I was disappointed that there was only one bag of firewood, as the patio fireplace lends itself to a nice fire into the evening. 3). I understand that the internet will be slow in an area like this, but then I would expect a better DStv package. I was trying to watch some rugby on my iPad with limited success, as the channel was not available on the DStv package.
