Beautiful, friendly and safe. We loved our stay at Mountain Haven Guest House. The location is breathtaking, the rooms are quirky and unique (if a bit small), and the host, Vincent, was excellent in helping us navigate the scenery and making sure we have everything we need.

Extremely happy with our stay. Vince was very helpful with travel tips in the area and also very accommodating and constantly made sure the stay was comfortable.

Not nice. The unit I booked was dark, damp and super depressing, so I asked to be moved. Vince very kindly upgraded me to a sunnier room, but I still found the place a bit sad and neglected. The mattresses need replacing as they are too soft. It is also very noisy as it is on the main road from Nelspruit.

Hi Mandy, Thank you for your review. Apologies, we normally air the rooms, especially with all the rain, but because I was away, unfortunately, this was not done. I personally tried the mattresses after your comment and found them comfortable; some people may find a mattress too soft, some might find it too hard, (and not because of its age) if customers find either or, I'm quite willing to change the mattress or put them in another unit, if we have space. We are next to the main road going past Kaapsehoop, which generally is dead quiet at night, unless they are harvesting timber in the area, in which case there will be a logging truck every half an hour or so. We describe ourselves as rustic, unfortunately, there are no great expanses of stainless steel, plastic or glass, we have tried to build in the original style of the village. We spend around 130 man/women hours a week cleaning, maintaining and improving. So no neglect, but we appreciate your review as it affords us the opportunity to fix specific problems (if stated). I'm sorry you were depressed and good luck with your drive up through Africa. Regards Vince

Eenvoudige, skoon akkommodasie, perfect vir 'n vinnige naweek wegbreek. Het ons verblyf vreeslik baie geniet. Skoon akkommodasie en Vince was altyd hulpvaardig waar benodig was.

Dit was lekke cosy gewees, bietjie klein maar heeltemal gangbaar. Die enigste ding wat gepla het, was dat dit so naby is aan die grootpad, maar dis my persoonlike opinie. Ek kom van 'n plaas af waar alles doodstil is, dit is hoekom ek sê dis my persoonlike opinie.

Thanks for the reveiw Kobus. The village is a destination for day visitors, especially on long weekends. Evenings we don t normally have any traffic at all, unless Sappi is harvesting in the area, in which case we might have a truck once every hour or two. Most people from the city comment that they are not used to the quiet at night, besides the crying of the jackals.
