Harties Lodge Rose Cottage

A quiet, safe environment for a wonderful visit.

Had a great stay, so these are just a few suggestions. Just want to suggest to have more bowls like for salad and snacks, and to mix something in the kitchen. Trash cans in the rooms would also be a plus.

Bitterly disappointed, poor quality accommodation.

No maintenance, various faults, shortcomings, shower needs a good scrub and walls dirty, few items in kitchen no bowls to use in microwave fridge no bowl and no drawers in the deep freeze, stove and oven not working at all, bed poor quality, man fell through bed, has many plugs, but not usable. The 2nd room has bedside lights, but no plugs nearby where they can be plugged in, lots of cupboards in the kitchen, but no glass bowls or plastic bowls to eat snacks in or prepare food in. Everywhere needs TLC, urgently. We came from Bakubung timeshare to such poor accommodation, very disappointing, don't know how the stay at Harties Rose cottage got more than one star, their units look very poor, photos are misleading, definitely would not recommend this place at all . All that was good was the staff on duty, all friendly and helpful and tried to help us out where possible. 2 safes in the unit, but not usable, hanging cupboard in 2nd room falling apart, it was winter time, no top sheets only a duvet on each bed and one double bed blanket as an extra in the cupboard, you would have thought would have expected x2 single bed blankets. Now I wonder, you as owners of this poor accommodation would you pay so much for such poor accommodation? Best of all, charge them a R200 breakage fee. No idea why they ask this, most items are already absent and/or in need of attention. And there is a toaster in the unit too, but if you pick it up all the breadcrumbs fall out from the bottom, which is also broken!

Disappointing.

We booked Rose Cottage for 3 nights. The photos on the web page are unfortunately not an accurate reflection of the place. The Cottage needs a lot of maintenance work, especially the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is minimally equipped, the blinds hang on mercy and the toaster is full of brown marks, the oven also only worked on one setting. The mirrors in the bathroom are black with age, the shower is extremely creepy with black corners and peeling paint. And in the bath water runs out of the wall when you open the taps. . The first night there was no hot water as the geyser was not switched on before our arrival. The coal stove that was in the living room had not been cleaned. The sofas were also old and very dirty.
