I can assure you that our cleaning products are of the highest of quality.
Our head of housekeeping is probably the best you'll ever find in the industry! There are no shortcuts and no diluting of cleaning products. We actually have other accommodation establishments, contacting us and consulting with Woodpecker Inn on housekeeping issues. Our housekeeping standards are very high, one of the reasons why we won the Best Guesthouse In Zululand award for a number of years now.
The only thing I can think of is that you could've smelt Mondi. Sometimes when the wind is blowing from the company, we get a stale smell. There is nothing one can do about it, that's Richards Bay. I do apologise for that.
Regarding the Wi-Fi, we have fibre in all the rooms. I wonder if you were connected to the right Wi-Fi. All you had to do is ask for assistance. We would gladly assist any guest.
The breakfast at Woodpecker Inn is something we've always had compliments about. But tastes do differ. If in future, you do have specific dietary requests, please do mention it and we'll try and accommodate you.
I think what you get for a R120 is more than reasonable as the breakfast consists of 3 x meats, 2 x Eggs, Bake beans / sweetcorn, Yoghurt / muffin, 3 Slices of bread, 2 Jams, Fruit, Juice, Coffee & tea in the room.

Thank you that you made Woodpecker Inn your accommodation of choice here in Richards Bay, it was an honor to have you stay with us. I'm so sorry to hear that you found the bed a little hard, overall the vast majority of our valued guests find our beds to be the most comfortable that they have ever had the privilege to sleep on. Bed preferences are a personal taste and unfortunately no establishment will ever have it 100% correct for every single individual. Some time ago we had a guest saying the bed was too soft, we all have our own preferences... Should you in future find something in your room which is not to your personal taste, please do let reception know and we will do our utmost to accommodate you. In this case housekeeping could've been there in 10 minutes to put a duvet under the bed protector and you would've received a new water bottle, there was no need to be uncomfortable, that is the very last thing we want.
I do apologize that the receptionist could not assist you with the 1st ring of the bell, she was however busy assisting guests at the moment.
I would like to thank you for the feedback, every single review is of utmost importance to us. We at Woodpecker Inn are constantly looking at ways to improve and to remain the number one guesthouse in Zululand. We've once again been voted as the number one guesthouse in Zululand, this is largely due to these valued reviews.

Baie dankie vir die terugvoering, bly om te verneem julle is veilig terug by die huis. Jammer oor die krane se warm en koue tekens was omgeruil was. Dit gebeur soms dat n gas uit boek en dan n peots vir die volgende persoon wil bak. Die twee tekens was net omgeruil, dit is nou weer reg gestel.
Ek verstaan egter nie die kinders in ander kamer opmerking nie? Die twee kamers is dan reg teen mekaar en jy loop deur die een kamer om in die ander te kom, geen gang of niks nie. Dit is dan presies dieslfde as in n normale huis. Verstaan egter nie hoe daar op kan verbeter doen nie? As jy n gedagte daarom het, deel dit asb en graag maak ek so.
Die parkering is informeel in die tuine. Mens is dan immers op vakansie en wil nie onnodig met wit strepe ingeperk wees nie... Sal bietjie let op sekuriteit se gedrag en kyk waar ons kan verbeter. Hul neem maar partykeer kanse oor hierdie tydperk.
Dankie dat jul Woodpecker Inn jul akkommodasie van keuse hier in Richardsbaai gemaak het. Graag verwelkom ons jul weer hier by ons.

Thank you for your valued review, these reviews are very important to us, it helps us to stay the number 1 guest house in Zululand when it comes to value for money.
Woodpecker Inn has rooms of various sizes and some of these rooms sleep from 1 person up to 6 people. Some with kitchens, balconies and much more, there are also rooms for those with a tight budget and they are a bit smaller. The rooms are yearly inspected by the South African Tourism Grading Council and we are told that we can qualify as a 4-star establishment, but we choose to remain a 3-star graded establishment. The reason for that is that too often people do not inquire at 4-star establishments, they perceive them to be a bit expensive. Our rooms have various rates as well, you chose to pay the cheaper rate, hence the smaller room. On your next visit to us, please ask the friendly ladies at reception what your room options are, they will gladly show you the different options.
Woodpecker Inn is a green establishment, and saving our environment is always high on our agenda, For this reason, a half full roll of toilet paper is not to be thrown away. However, there are full rolls to the left of the toilet, next to the sanitary towels.
July and August are our windy months, every resident in Richards Bay will tell you that it is a constant battle to keep outside furniture dust free. It is our gardener's daily task to wipe off all garden furniture, but I do apologize that it does not stay dust free all day.
Also, I'm so sorry to hear your meal was not to your personal taste. May I please ask you, when next you place your order, that you let the waiter know how exactly you prefer your dinner. Our highly trained chef, who has catered for ministers in the past, will then bend over backwards as to assure it is to your personal taste.
Jan, I would like to have you as a valued guest again, and show you the reason why Woodpecker Inn has won the best guest house in Zululand award, not once, not twice, but on numerous occasions.

Baie dankie vir die mooi boodskap. Dit was 'n groot plesier om julle hier by Woodpecker Inn te ontvang. Onthou net met jul volgende kuier hier by ons; die A la Carte menu is n groot menu, so jul sal maar n hele paar dae moet bly om hom deur te werk.
Baie bly jul het lekker gekuier en ek sal jul danke oordra aan die personeel, veral die kombuis en restaurant personeel. Beste motivering is goeie terugvoering.

One of our decoders decided to stop working that afternoon, a new one was purchased immediately and connected to the system. MultiChoice was contacted for the connection on their side, but as you know, that takes a bit of time and was out of our hands.
All channels are in good working order and ready for your next visit.

Die hele KZN en so ook Richardsbaai bevind tans die grootste droogte in jare. Die Munisipaliteit van Richardsbaai het alle waterlyne tot en met 75% water druk verminder, daar is al 'watershedding' skedules ook uitgegee. Daar is werklik nie genoegsaam water in die omgewing nie. Ek is regtig jammer as die water tekort dit vir jul ongemaklik gemaak het, maar as daar nie water is om te gee nie, kan ons regtig net werk met wat ons het. Wat die veiligheid aan betref, kan ek jou verseker jy gaan nie maklik veiliger as Woodpecker Inn kry nie. In die 21 jaar van ons bestaan het ons nie een enkele insident gehad nie, daar is min besighede wat vandag dieselfde kan sê. As mens weg gaan wil jy nie elke oggend 20 slotte oop sluit om uit te gaan of 20 slotte sluit voor jy kan gaan slaap nie. Jy wil ontspan, met die wete dat ander na jou omsien, dit is juis die geval hier by Woodpecker Inn. Elke dag is daar twee wagte aan diens, wat die heeltyd patrolleer. Daar is kameras reg deur die gastehuis, 3 verskillende 'armed response' maatskappye gebruik Woodpecker Inn as hul basis hier in Birdswood en parkeer hul voertuie reg voor die perseel, ek myself is hoof van die plaaslike CPF en daar word elke oggend, middag en aand patrollie gery, hier is ook amper elke week n lid van die SAPD wat hier bly a.g.v. kursusse wat hul doen. Veiligheid beteken nie hoë mure en toe hekke nie, sodra hul oor die muur of agter die toe hek is, kan niemand sien wat daar gebeur nie en het die skelms Carte Blanhce. Veiligheid hier by Woodpecker Inn begin al 5 strate ver weg, ons is elke dag betrokke met die stryd teen misdaad, dus ons sukses met n rekord van 21 jaar sonder n insident.
Maar Hein, daar is goeie nuus vir ons almal, die afgelope tydjie het ons al 'n paar druppels water gekry, nog glad nie genoeg nie, maar daar is hoop. Ons het ook nou groot opgaartenks bekom met hoë druk waterpompe, so met die bietjie reën wat ons nou kry, sal ons binnekort na ons eie watersake kan omsien.
Ek vertrou om jou weer hier by ons te sien en 'n lekker warm stort vir jou te kan aanbied.
