Agatha Crocodile Ranch
Description
Agatha Crocodile Ranch is a fantastic tourist attraction situated on a beautiful avocado farm in Tzaneen, Limpopo. Founded by Milan and Blanka Darazs in 1978, when Blanka gave her husband two baby crocodiles as a gift, Agatha Crocodile Ranch has grown into a world-class crocodile farm offering tours and exciting experiences to both local and international visitors alike. Visitors to the ranch can enjoy numerous activities, such as daily tours, feedings, and holding a baby crocodile.
The ranch provides countless activities for the young and old to enjoy. To learn a bit more about the ancient Nile crocodiles, you can take part in croc tours that run from 09h00 – 16h00 daily. The tours generally last 1 – 1.5 hours and include a detailed history and information about the behaviour and breeding habits of the Nile crocodile, followed by a feeding show, and a guided tour of the dam and enclosures. For the brave, the ranch offers an opportunity to hold a baby crocodile and count all 68 teeth, as well as a chance to feed ferocious full grown crocodiles, such as Rufus – the biggest croc on the farm at 4.2m long and roughly 35 years old. Other crocodiles include Stompie, Milan, John, and Link, who range between 3m – 4.2m in length.
The ranch boasts a curio shop with a variety of gifts and crocodile products, as well as a local art gallery. You can also purchase crocodile meats such as whole tails, sosaties, wors, and fillets.
