BC Wines
Description
Within the Breede River Valley, on the R43 between Villiersdorp and Worcester, lies Brandvlei Cellars. Originally, in 1955 when the wine estate was founded, the cellars were situated next to the Brandvlei Dam, but when the dam was enlarged in the 1970s, the cellars were relocated to their present position. BC Wines is a part of the Integrated Production of Wine, which means that they employ techniques which will not damage the environment, as well as conserve natural resources. In 2012, they won numerous awards for a selection of different wines.
As the valley is very fertile, the wine farms around here produce bountiful produce, and on BC Wines, there are also some endangered Karoo flowers such as the Lachenalia moniliformis, and anthosflower. While here, enjoy a tour of the cellars, or book out their function venue for a wedding, birthday party, or a corporate celebration. The picturesque scenery ensures a day trip out here will be well-spent. Bring along your camera to capture the vineyards, flowers, and friendly staff, and if you come in winter, you have the chance to capture the Jonaskop mountain peak with its yearly snowy cap.
