Cape Epic
Description
The ABSA Cape Epic is an annual 2-person team mountain bike race with a route that changes every year. First staged in 2004, the race covers more than 700km and lasts 8 days.
Route
The race is broken into day-long segments. Times to finish each segment are aggregated to determine the overall winning team per category at the end of the race. The course changes every year, but it usually finishes in the Cape winelands, with the last few years ending at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West.
Concept
All members must enter as a 2-person team in one of 5 categories, including Men, ladies, Mixed, Masters, and Grand Masters. The partners are bound by the race rules to look after each other during the entirety of the race.
