Clifton School
Description
Clifton School is an independent boys’ school in Morningside, Durban. The school caters for students from Grade R to Grade 12 with a Foundation Phase, Prep School, and a College.
HERITAGE
Clifton School was founded in 1924 by Mr Harry Stubbs, the retired first headmaster of Durban Prep. The school was first named "Stubbs' School", until Mr Stubbs's daughter suggested the name “Clifton”, in memory of her cousin who had been killed during the First World War. During the Second World War, part of the school moved to Nottingham Road and opened up a co-ed prep school for Grade 1 to Grade 7.
ACADEMICS
The school motto is Prodesse Quam Conspici which means “To Accomplish Rather Than To Be Conspicuous”.
