Hibberdene Beach
Description
Hibberdene Beach is a lovely beach located in the small coastal town of Hibberdene, halfway between Scottburgh and Port Shepstone, on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. Named after C. Maxwell-Hibberd, the former postmaster-general of the Natal, the beaches along this coastline are considered to be the gateway to the spectacular Hibiscus Coast.
The town has 5 popular beaches, 4 of which are netted and offer safe swimming. They are favoured due to the warm water of the Indian Ocean flowing across its shoreline which makes for excellent diving, snorkelling, swimming, and scuba diving. The wide sweep of Hibberdene’s main beach is perfect for sun bathing and relaxing. It is situated next to the estuary of the river, which is ideal for kids to paddle on. Facilities include clean ablutions, a refreshment kiosk, and nearby restaurants and shops.
