Keurboomstrand
Description
Keurboomstrand is a spectacular Blue Flag beach that lies in the same named resort town on the other side of the Keurbooms River from Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape. The beach lies at the foot of a mountain scattered with trees, on the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. It provides a blissful setting for those who want to experience the beauty of the Garden Route without the hustle and bustle of the crowds that overrun Plettenberg Bay.
The beach got its name from the local Keurboom tree which produces beautiful pink-purple flowers in the August, September, and December months. While lazing about on the warm sands, you’ll be able to spot the Robberg Peninsula through the waves on the other side of Plettenberg Bay. The Keurbooms River (which lies just about halfway between Plettenberg Bay and the suburb of Keurbooms Strand) joins up with the Bitou River to form a stunning lagoon with its own island. A variety of activities can be enjoyed here, such as skiing, fishing, canoeing, and boat cruises.
