Milnerton Beach
Description
Milnerton Beach is a popular beach in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, offering postcard perfect views of Table Mountain. It is well known for its lighthouse, which stands tall on the beach and adds an idyllic look to any photograph. The lighthouse also acts as a great landmark for finding the beach, as well as a necessary beacon for boats entering Table Bay. When the wind isn’t blowing, the beach is fantastic for walks and purely enjoying the scenery.
The beach is often frequented by surfers, dog walkers, and sunbathers. It is also a safe swimming beach (despite the freezing cold water) as lifeguards are on duty during the peak season. However, as it is exposed in all directions, it is a beach best to be visited on calm days. When it’s windy, you can take refuge in one of the beach cafes and restaurants. Other facilities include clean ablutions and the Milnerton life-savers club.
