Missionary Meeting House Museum
Description
The Missionary Meeting House Museum (the 'Sendinggestig') on Long Street, Cape Town. This was the first missionary church in the country, where slaves were taught literacy and instructed in Christianity. This magnificent building, completed in 1804 by the South African Missionary Society, boasts one of the most beautiful frontages in Cape Town, with spectacular teak balconies and a Chinese Chippendale pulpit. It is definitely worth a visit if you're strolling along Long Street.
