Mountain Sanctuary Park
Description
Mountain Sanctuary Park is a 1000 hectare privately owned nature reserve situated 90km from Pretoria and 110km from Johannesburg, Gauteng. The reserve is fantastic for picnics, hikes, and splashing about in the pristine mountain pools.
The reserve is home to a wide variety of protected wildlife such as duiker, impala, zebra, baboon, brown hyena, klipspringer, jackal, leopard, and many more.
The camp has a swimming pool, and the office sells refreshments and charcoal for braais. Climbers are welcome to bring their own climbing gear. There are no bolted routes for sport climbers. The reserve hosts the Magalies Monster mountain bike race in May each year.
Day visitors
Day visitors are welcome in the reserve daily, provided there is space. Only 180 people are allowed into the reserve each day, including people staying at the accommodation and campsites. Day visitors are welcome to make use of the swimming pool and picnic area.
