National Museum
Description
A Declared Cultural Institution, the National Museum is a natural history, cultural history, and art museum. Dating back to 1877, when its collections and displays comprised mainly rarities from around the world, today the National Museum houses fascinating permanent and temporary exhibitions that offer an enjoyable experience to all.

- Dreyer Hall - named after Prof. T. F. Dreyer, who discovered the famous Florisbad skull in 1932, the Hall currently contains disparate displays of mainly an archaeological nature, including artefacts from Ancient Egypt, the Pacific islands, an Iron Age archaeological site near Winburg (Free State), Stone Age archaeological material from Matjes River (southern Cape), fossils and stone tools from Florisbad (central Free State), as well as a cast of the Florisbad skull. The Hall is scheduled to be re-designed in the near future.
