Noordhoek Beach
Description
Noordhoek Beach stretches on for 8 beautiful kilometres in the suburb of Noordhoek, Cape Town. As you head over Chapman’s Peak, you will be welcomed by the picturesque shoreline below that meanders towards Kommetjie in the distance.
The great thing about this beach is that it is so large that it never feels crowded, so you’re ensured a leisurely day in the sun without having to battle for a spot in the sand. It’s a popular spot for surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing, sun tanning, dog walking, horse riding, and more. After the rainy season, a little lagoon and river fills up and provides a great place for little ones to splash around in.
The two surfing spots of the beach are known as The Hoek and Dunes. While the waters of the Atlantic Ocean are pretty chilly, a wetsuit will make it a lot more bearable. A well-known shipwreck on the beach, called the Kakapo, makes visiting the beach in winter just as enjoyable. The beach is pet friendly.
