Numbi Gate
Description
The Numbi Gate is located 428km from Johannesburg in the south west of the Kruger National Park, and offers the easiest access point from nearby Nelspruit. This gate offers one of the best entrances into the park because its higher altitude provides a sweeping view over the lowveld to the east and the granite foothills to the north and south.
While the southern region of the parks is relatively small, it is also the busiest section. However, this area of the park is popular due to its accessibility and its excellent game viewing opportunities. This region is greener than the northern Kruger due to its high rainfall and sustains a wide variety of game in great numbers.
Wildlife to be seen include kudu, white and black rhino, leopard, hartebeest, and sable antelope. Birds to be seen are brown-headed parrot, African cuckoo hawk, bush-shrike, and crested barbet.
