The Reptile Gardens, owned by Reptilia Traders, is a fascinating reptile display park and pet shop situated at the Stodels garden centre in Bellville. A wide variety of indigenous and exotic snakes are available for viewing in temperature controlled cages.

The aim of the park is to educate visitors about these interesting creatures and teach them how to live in harmony in nature and in their gardens. Visitors can enjoy viewing the reptile display park which showcases over 50 species of reptiles, as well as watch reptile shows and get their photos taken with an enormous snake. For those who have reptiles of their own, there is a retail outlet selling hardware, cages, snake handling equipment, reptile food, and reptiles (subject to permits). They will also be able to offer advice on how to look after the reptiles.

Snakes one can expect to see here include puff adders, Cape cobras, black and green mambas, boomslang, rattlesnakes, tree vipers, gaboon vipers, and exotic pythons. In addition to the snakes, there are also several chameleons, rock monitors, and geckos.

After spending an eventful day in the garden centre and reptile park, visitors can refresh themselves at the Stodel restaurant on site. There is also a kid’s play park, train rides, a petting zoo, and pet shop available. Reptile shows and photo shoots are offered for school outings, birthday parties, and holiday clubs.
