Rhino And Lion Nature Reserve

Description

The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is a privately owned, non-subsidized game reserve outside of Johannesburg. Situated near the Cradle of Humankind, the reserve covers approximately 1,200 ha of typical Highveld terrain. In 1985, the reserve was founded to preserve the scenic area, purely for private leisure. It started out with a few antelope and two White Rhinos, namely Ouvrous and Bulle, who were imported from a zoo in Germany. Today it is a proud member of Johannesburg's Big 5 Tourist Destinations, boasting 600 head of game representing 25 different species.

Visitors have access to braai areas, a curio shop, restaurant, kiosk, swimming pool, children's playground, and the Crocodile Pub where you can enjoy sundowners and watch crocodiles at close range. Activities include: - Cheetah Talks - Lion, Cheetah, and Wild dog feeds - Reptile park with snake displays - Lion, Cheetah, and Tiger Cub Display (when available) - R30 pp to touch - Animal crèche - Game drives (bookings only)

The Rhino and Lion Park places and emphasis on breeding and no less than 18 white rhino calves have been born at the reserve to date. Aside from rhino and lion, you will have the chance to see cheetah, the rare Cape wild dog, tigers, warthog, and over 200 vultures that come from the Magaliesburg to feast at the reserve. A small fee is charged to enter the cub pens, where you have the rare opportunity to touch and have your photograph taken with lion, tiger, and cheetah cubs.

Although the Wondercaves are a separate entity, visitors to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve can purchase a combined entrance ticket.
