The hospital is situated in Hospital Street in Riversdale, Western Cape. Nearby main roads are the N2 Highway to the West of the hospital and the R323 to the North-East. Riversdale is located 33km East of Heidelberg along the N2 and 85km South of Ladismith along the R323.

Riversdale hospital is a public hospital and therefore services are free to pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as children under the age of six years old and pensioners. Other patients are charged a consultation and/or admission fee.
