The Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre - De Wildt

The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre - De Wildt is a fascinating organisation situated 15 minutes from Hartbeespoort Dam in the North West province of South Africa.

The cheetah centre was established in 1971 as a cheetah breeding project, and named after Ann van Dyk as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the cheetahs as well as other rare and endangered cat species. Over the past 40 years or so, the centre has bred over 800 cheetah cubs and has since introduced successful breeding of the African wild dog, brown hyena, suni, duiker, Cape vulture, and riverine rabbit.

Visitors to the centre can enjoy seeing animals such as cheetah, African wild dogs, and other rare cat species. A number of tours are offered at the centre:
