The Lion Park

The Lion Park is Johannesburg’s top tourist attraction, situated on the outskirts of Fourways in the Gauteng Province. Visitors can do self-drives through the park, which offers terrific close-up views of predators and herbivores indigenous to Africa. The Lion Park is home to over 80 lions, including the rare white lion, and other carnivores such as cheetah, wild dog, black backed jackal, as well as brown and spotted hyena. You will also find a variety of antelope, zebra, giraffe, and ostrich that roam freely in a separate area to the carnivores. The carnivore camps are protected by barriers and fences to prevent the different prides from confronting one another.

The Lion Park offers some incredibly unique and exciting interactions with the wildlife. Unlike most game parks, The Lion Park is open at night, so tourists can enjoy night drives and see how differently the animals behave once the sun has gone down. The Cub World offers the rare opportunity to play, interact, and have your photograph taken with the lion cubs. You can also feed and pet the resident giraffe from an elevated platform, which puts you at eye level with the magnificent creature and guarantees an experience you won’t forget. Visitors over 16 years of age (and 50kg) are invited to take an hour-long educational walk with the full grown cheetahs. An outing not to be missed!
