Uvongo Beach
Description
Uvongo Beach is a lovely stretch of beach in the popular holiday town of Uvongo, near Margate. Sheltered and sub-tropical, with a waterfall tumbling into the lagoon, Uvongo Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches along KwaZulu-Natal’s Hibiscus Coast.
Uvongo is named after the Ivungu River and is famous for its waterfall that plunges 23m down into the lagoon, causing it to be one of the deepest lagoons in the country. The beach is popular for swimming, snorkelling, body boarding, surfing, jogging, canoeing, boating, romantic strolls, and exploring the rock pools. The facilities are top-notch, life guards are on duty in season, and there are pedal boat rentals, a kids’ paddling pool, and shark nets.
