The World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary and Monkey Park is the largest bird park in Africa and one of the few large bird parks in the world. Situated in Hout Bay, the bird park is one of Cape Town’s premier family attractions, hosting around 100,000 visitors per year. It features over 3,000 birds, monkeys, and small animals of 400 different species in over 100 spacious walk-through aviaries.

The park boasts a beautiful tropical garden setting covering an area of 4 hectares, with a stunning backdrop of Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, Constantiaberg, Chapman’s Peak, and Little Lion’s Head. Visitors can witness feeding times of various birds, such as penguins between 11h50 - 15h50, pelicans at 12h50, cormorants at 13h50, and birds of prey at 16h15. The Monkey Jungle is open for a couple of hours before and after lunch, and features 38 Squirrel Monkeys. Animals you can look forward to seeing include baboons, meerkats, squirrels, foxes, racoons, guinea pigs, and porcupines.

The bird park offers great facilities for kids with prams fore hire and a wonderful children’s playground. There is also a curio shop with a variety of souvenirs and mementos on sale.
