Hluleka Beach
Description
Hluleka Beach, carved into the steep cliff faces of the Wild Coast, roughly 20km south of Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape, is one of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. This untouched cove is set within the Hluleka Nature Reserve and is encircled by coastal forest, which is home to a number of birds, monkeys, and bushbuck, making it the ideal location for the nature lover.
The rocky shores are known to have plenty of dolphins visit, as well as occasional whales. The golden beach offers plenty of walking trails and picnic spots, as well as opportunities for shell collecting, fishing, harvesting mussels, oysters, and lobsters (with permits), and birding that you won’t find in many other places. Keep an eye out for the Cape parrot, osprey, ground hornbill, the rare green coucal, African finfoot, and Knysna loerie. Wildlife includes bushbuck, bush pig, eland, Burchell’s zebra, rock dassies, blue wildebeest, impala, and the blue duiker.
