Ngwelezana Hospital, a public hospital operated by the KwaZulu Natal Health Department, is situated near Empangeni, KwaZulu Natal. The hospital has 554 beds and provides District, Regional and Tertiary Services to communities from Uthungulu, Umkhanyakude and Zululand Districts. The hospital is currently in the process of building an additional 192 bed surgical ward.

GETTING THERE

The hospital is situated in Thandisiwe Road, Ngwelezana near Empangeni in KwaZulu Natal. Nearby main roads are the R102 and N2 highway to the East of the hospital and the R34 to the North-East. Ngwelezana is located 6km South-East of Empangeni.

PAYMENTS

Ngwelezana Hospital is a provincial hospital, therefore services are free to pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as children under the age of six years old. Other citizens are charged according to a sliding scale depending on their income.
