The Fort Nottingham Museum
Description
The Fort Nottingham Museum is a fascinating museum housed in an old fort in Fort Nottingham in the Natal Midlands. The museum covers aspects of early settlers in the Natal Midlands (1856 era) and was built to protect the settlers from the bushman and potential San cattle raids. Visitors can visit the fort, explore the area, learn about who built it and the purpose of it.
The fort offers displays of artifacts from the San bushman and fascinating insight into their way of life and history in the Midlands. Every year the museum hosts Highland Games with a number of traditional Scottish games, as well as exhibitors, food stalls, highland dancing, and athletic games. Guided tours of the fort and exhibits are available.
