Umgababa Beach
Description
Umgababa Beach is a lovely unspoiled Blue Flag beach located in the small coastal town of Umgababa, roughly 36km south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. The beach has since been rejuvenated to make it more accessible to all. The primary attraction of this beach is its rugged beauty and lack of crowds.
A fire during the late 1980s put the town as a popular beach resort on pause. The beach hosts the annual Umgababa Festival to try and attract visitors back to the area, with activities such as indigenous games, stage acts, music, dance, a beauty pageant, and a Learn-to-Swim programme.
