16 on Main sleeps up to 12 people with four double rooms and two twin rooms; ideal for a big family or a group of friends looking to get away for a weekend at the beach. The house comes fully kitted with linen, towels and a comprehensively equipped kitchen. Only a walk or short drive away is the Arniston beach, perfect for a summer’s day out, or the open plan lounge and kitchen with a TV and DStv means that a visit in winter is just as welcoming if you desire that well deserved rest with your feet up.
Close to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, Arniston was once only a fishing community. When you visit Arniston today it is always advised that a trip to the fishing village is well worth it, characterized by lime-washed thatch houses the village remains unspoiled and has in fact been declared a national monument.
From April to January whales frequently visit the Arniston coastline, but if you want to be guaranteed a sighting it is best to visit during the peak months of September and October when the whales come in close to the shoreline to mate and calve.
There are plenty of things to do in and around Arniston, and just over 2 hours from Cape Town, 16 on Main is the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway or a longer stay if time allows.
