Grootfontein Private Nature Reserve

Description

Kudu Lodge is off the grid and operates with solar, gas and paraffin. It is the ideal retreat for those who want to bring their dog with them on holiday because it is the only lodge on the farm that's fenced in. The lodge is a large open-plan bedroom with a queen-size bed and enough books and games to keep everyone occupied. The room has an en-suite bathroom with an interesting paraffin unit for hot showers. Should guests wish to bring little kids, a bunk bed can be added to the room. Adjacent to the lodge is a kitchen and a lounge area with terrific views of the mountains. Satelite Wi-Fi is provided and solar power is used to charge computers and cell phones. Guests can enjoy the mountain view from the splash pool and enjoy a braai under the stars. The lounge area is comfortable and ideal for guests wanting to relax with a good book.

Description

Giant Rock is built into a towering rock face with huge wild fig trees and great views of the Bushveld. It is accessible up 2 flights of stairs. The accommodation comprises of a 1 bedroom studio which is furnished with a queen-size bed. The bedroom has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a parafin driven hot shower. It is ideal for a couple however, bunk beds can be added to accommodate children as well. Down 1 flight of stairs guests will reach the kitchenette which is equipped with a gas fridge-freezer and a gas hob. The ground floor has another braai, a splash pool and a camping ablution block for the 3 campsites close to the lodge. The campsites are for the use of Giant Rock guests only.

Camp Marula is nestled at the foothills of the majestic Waterberg mountain range, bringing you closer to nature. It has 4 campsites which can accommodate 4 guests per site. A camping ablution block with a paraffin shower, a braai area and splash pool that overlooks the scenic Grootfontein valley is available. Camp Marula is perfect for self-sufficient camping enthusiasts who love to get away into the wilderness. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for this site - alternatively, please specify if you need help getting your camping equipment up there and the team will be happy to help.

Description

Serengeti Bush Camp is located in a very private area on Grootfontein and ideal for small to medium size camping groups with their own tents or bush trailers. It is surrounded by the Waterberg and close to the local 4x4 route. Guests can bring their own mountain bikes. Serengeti is completely off the grid and in nature. That means, lights are powered by guests' car batteries at night (it doesn't drain the battery), and paraffin heated water is used for hot showers. There is no cell phone signal. Serengeti Bush Camp has 4 - 6 campsites and guests share an ablution block, a splash pool and a Bush Boma. Guests will also enjoy regular game sitings at the nearby waterhole.

Rwenzori is nestled between two rocky hills with dreamy views of the nearby Waterberg. It is close to Aloe Lodge making it perfect for larger groups wanting to stay close together. The lodge has been built from recycled farm materials, stone walls, tin roof and cement floors. Both rooms are furnished with double beds and can include single beds for larger groups if requested. The lodge has a splash pool, deck, shared bathroom, a kitchenette, a fridge/freezer and a braai.

Description

Mokwepa is the most remote lodge, located 4 kms into Grootfontein. There is one road in, and one road out. It offers stunning views of the surrounding Waterberg Mountains in every direction. Mokwepa has 4 bedrooms. The first two bedrooms have king-size beds and both have outdoor en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom has a queen-size bed and the fourth room has a double bed. Guests in both of these rooms share an indoor bathroom. There is a gas oven, a gas fridge/freezer, gas geysers for hot showers and satellite Wi-Fi. This lodge is powered by solar and is not affected by loadshedding. There is a splash pool and a braai pit down a flight of stairs. Mokwepa has 4 campsites as an extra for larger groups. The camping facilities involve an ablution block, a splash pool and braai pit overlooking the valley below.

Aloe Lodge has an open-plan kitchen, fully stocked with all you need to enjoy your weekend away. It also has a spacious braai area. Bigger groups can be accommodated with extra lodges and campsites available close to Aloe Lodge. Satellite Wi-Fi is provided and solar power is used to charge computers and cell phones.
