Basic necessities fell short of expectations and did not live up to its cost. We recently stayed at 44 Isikhulu, Umdloti with high expectations, given the premium price. The view was stunning, offering a direct view of the beach. However, we were disappointed by several issues. The main bedroom and ensuite bathroom smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant and unexpected. It seemed to be coming from the drains in the bath, shower, and basin, as well as the wooden material in the bathroom, which at times made it nearly impossible to escape the odour. To make matters worse, there were also unpleasant food smells emerging from the same drains, making it even more uncomfortable. Additionally, for two adults and two teens, only four small towels (not much bigger than a hand towel) were provided, and the bedding lacked the cleanliness you’d expect from such an expensive place. There were also no blankets and it was cold at night. The stairs to the unit were grimy and slippery and also needed a proper clean twice a week. However, on a positive note, the dishwasher and braai were extremely helpful and made our stay more convenient. While the setting was beautiful and some amenities were great, the lack of attention to cleanliness and basic necessities fell short of expectations and did not live up to its cost.

A lovely place to stay. We had a wonderful experience at Isikhulu 44. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and we felt very safe. The unit itself was well worth the money and even the monkeys, although very cheeky and sneaky, were very entertaining.

The place is worth every cent I paid and at a great location with shops close by too. I had a time of my life from the moment I got to the accommodation and saw how clean and neat it was, not forgetting the view it has. I am certainly going to book my next holiday there again.
