Beautiful view, nice place to hang out.
Kalimera's location is excellent and the view over the lake is fantastic. It's a nice house that offers plenty of space for large groups and we had a great stay. However, there are a few things that are very unusual for a place in the house's price range: there is no dishwasher and exactly only 8 plates, 8 cups, 8 forks etc. for most cutlery and crockery. So you have to constantly wash to stay ahead and the space for storing and drying dishes is limited. Definitely a holiday dampener if you have to wash dishes yourself all the time. There are hardly 2 forks, spoons, plates, cups or glasses that look the same. It's as if the disposables in other houses have been pushed into the cupboard here. The kitchen is poorly equipped with too few bowls, too few chopping boards, no colanders, only one sharp knife, etc. There are no fans or air conditioning and it gets very hot. You don't want to open the windows for cool night air, because there is no burglar alarm. The beds don't have a sheet other than a fitted sheet, so with the heat you can't even cover yourself with a thin sheet. It's so strange to have just a duvet and no sheet in between. I think the house has potential, but there are a few really inexpensive items that would make the stay much more comfortable. For example, when we got there there was no hand soap. After a long drive, you want to wash your hands! When we went to buy soap, we realized there were no soap dishes, so the soap slid all over the sink. There are a few things in the house that are broken, like the inside of one bathroom door. It looks like it's been broken for a long time and they can't seem to fix it. A little gymnastics to get out of one bathroom needs to be applied. The house is really nice, but for the price range the owner could buy a dishwasher, some fans, soap dishes and more kitchenware for under R10. It's very strange that such a luxurious home is equipped with so little care and love. Other than that, one can live comfortably. You just have to prepare yourself psychologically for the shortcomings. They're mostly small things, but with a great added value.
