Description
Walkersons Landgoed is right on the Mpumalanga high veld escarpment's mist zone, 10 km outside Dullstroom. Walkersons is a luxury estate, which is professionally maintained and has incredible scenery, a mountain stream, waterfall and wetlands. The estate focuses on nature with activities such as mountain biking, jogging, walking on paved trails, bird watching, horse riding, mountain climbing, 14 game species and 12 trout ponds to fish in. Furthermore, guests can visit the luxury spa at the 5-star hotel, Walkersons Country Hotel.
The guest house is built in the Eastern Transvaal farm style, spacious and has 3 bedrooms and a study. It is suitable for 6 adults and 2 children.
The whole house is on the same level and largely suitable for guests with mobility challenges. However, note that there is one flight of steps to the front porch.
The 2 main bedrooms are spacious, each with a beautiful view of the Walkersons valley, with a queen-size bed, electric blankets and a heated en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin. The third bedroom also has a queen size bed and there is a study with 2 single beds. Guests in these rooms share a full bathroom and each of these two rooms has a nice view to the eastern side of the house.
There is a spacious open-plan living area with a sitting area, dining area, kitchen and a washing area. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, an electric fan oven, air fryer, microwave, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, ice machine, tea and coffee-making facilities, cutlery and crockery. There is also a Nespresso and Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine and coffee plungers. Guests must please just bring their own coffee and capsules. The lounge area has comfortable seating, DStv Premium, a TV, DVD player, independent laptop screen and a sound system. Free WiFi is available for social media and DStv Premium which includes sports channels.
There are outdoor braai facilities on the stoep. Covered parking for 4 vehicles, two of which are in a lock-up garage is also available.
Guests are welcome to bring mountain bikes to explore the beautiful paved paths.
The estate manages the trout permits and guests must purchase permits for a daily fee per person. Guests must bring their own fishing equipment. Only trout fly fishing with floating line and hookless hooks is allowed in the ponds on a catch-and-release basis, no fishing is allowed in the river. Only guests in the house may fish, no outside visitors are allowed to fish.
