"Clarens is a very small town and you do not need to stay longer than 2 days unless you want to escape the city. My advice is, try to get more of your supplies in Bethlehem if you going to be staying in a self-catering establishment. "

"The town is quaint with loads of little shops and cute restaurants. There is only one very expensive grocery store in town so be sure to bring your basics! Clarens is a beautiful spot nestled among the mountains so great for a quiet weekend of rest and restore. It is only 17 km from Golden Gate NP which is great for a day trip. Pick your accommodation location carefully as there was a lot of weekend noise from the nearby informal settlement."

"Ideal for a 2 or 3 date weekend. Perfect for the craft beer or craft gin lover. Plenty of various themed restaurants and bars, but none of the bars we went to had a cocktail or shooter menu that included anything other than gin or craft beer. If you are not the outdoors type you may find that 2 days is more than enough to get through everything this small town has to offer."

"I loved Clarens. Clementines Restaurant is fantastic. Definitely eat here but make sure you book in advance. Clarens Brewery was a good lunch. They give you free tasters of beer, cider and gin. We all enjoyed the German sausages. Gosto's Portuguese Restaurant was average. It didn't feel particularly Portuguese. The pork crackling was too hard to eat. The fillet steaks were nothing to write home about. My parents went to the bakery and raved about the koeksisters so that is worth a visit."
