The stay was peaceful and relaxing but hot. We thoroughly enjoyed the big, spacious house with a beautiful view of the kloof and valley. However, air conditioning would be an improvement.

Die verblyf was vyster met al die geriewe. Swartskaap verblyf was fantasties. Tussen die berge, rustig en stil. Die huis was so skoon en gerieflik ingerig. Natuurskoon asemrowend! Kan hierdie verblyf sterk aanbeveel.

Asemrowend netjies en rustig met voeltjies heeldag. Baie lekker plek, rustig en die natuur ongelooflik. Baie spasie, alles in die huis. Sal weer daar vakansie geniet.

Would definitely recommend to those who love nature and desire peace and quiet. We recently had the pleasure of staying at Matjiesvlei Retreat Swartskaap in Calitzdorp, and it was truly a tranquil experience. The breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, crisp clean air, and soothing sounds of birds chirping and crickets at night made for a serene getaway. The rooms were neat and clean, and we enjoyed the charming company of a bird's nest on our porch. A surprise visit from a curious baboon added to the excitement. However, there were a few minor drawbacks. The 'pool' advertised turned out to be a dam, although we were welcome to swim in it. The kids were initially disappointed, but they soon adapted to the peaceful atmosphere. We also had to bring our own coffee and sugar, which wasn't a major issue. On a less pleasant note, we had two unwelcome visits from rain spiders, which did freak us out a bit. Despite these minor hiccups, we would definitely recommend Matjiesvlei Retreat Swartskaap for its stunning natural beauty, peaceful ambiance, and comfortable accommodations. Just be prepared for some unexpected wildlife encounters!

Peaceful, beautiful scenery, relaxing. Absolutely stunning place. Beautifully decorated and the scenery of the Swartberg Mountains is incredible. Great for birding. A nice big pool for summer, each room has an en suite. Big braai area. We'll be back!

We loved it so much we extended our stay. This is a superb place to get away from the stresses of the world. It is equipped with everything (dishwasher, washing machine) that allows rest. It is a true retreat and well worth the approximately 10 km of gravel road.

Het ontspan van aankoms tot vertrek, baie gawe en vriendelike gasvrou! Het stilte en natuurskoon en veral swemdam in die hitte baie geniet, pragtige omgewing, verblyf en geriewe puik.
