Bloukrans Bungee
Description
Don't miss a bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge when you're in the Tsitsikamma area of the Garden Route. Established in 1990, Face Adrenalin has a 100% safety record. And at 216m, this is the highest commercial bridge bungee jump in the world!
You'll get fitted with a harness and make your way through the trees towards the bridge for a short briefing. The walk through a tunnel with mesh floors (so you can see the drop below you) is said to be the scariest part of the experience for those who aren't comfortable with heights. Once at the bridge, you'll wait with the rest of your group to make the jump. Vibey music adds to the experience and helps to dull the nerves just a little bit. The staff are excellent and do a lot to reassure nervous jumpers.
When you're called, you'll be clipped into your harness and have your feet tied together. With your arms around the shoulders of two staff members, you'll slowly make your way towards the edge of the bridge - don't forget to smile at the camera before you jump! You'll experience a 5 second freefall before the bungee cord catches and swings you to a pain-free stop. There is absolutely NO pain involved! Once you've stopped swinging, you'll slowly start feeling yourself being winched up upside down until one of the staff climbs down to you and turns you right side up and pulls you to the top for another photo. The photographs and video will be available for you to view and purchase once you're done. Please note that you cannot take any of your own photographs on the bridge.
A number of well-known people have taken the plunge, including Jack Osbourne, Prince Harry, Thabo Mbeki, the Zuma family, Bobby Skinstad, and more. If you can’t face the jump, you can do a bridge walk to experience the height, and enjoy the views of the Bloukrans River as it flows into the sea. The area has a restaurant and viewing area, bathrooms, and a variety of arts and crafts on sale.
