George Airport
Description
George Airport (GRJ), formerly known as P.W Botha Airport is situated in George, in the heart of the Western Cape’s Garden Route. Built in 1977 as an exact model of Keetmanshoop, Namibia Airport, George Airport facilitates the transport of high volumes of domestic and international tourists who choose to fly directly to the Garden Route, rather than taking a road trip.
A number of high profile golfing tournaments take place at the luxury golfing estates situated along the Garden Route, and George Airport is geared up to transport large amount of passengers to these events. Even though the airport is relatively small, it is constantly buzzing with activity and features flights from South African Airways, Kulula, Comair, and 1 Time. The airport also handles cargo, ensuring that seafood, flowers, and other products that are manufactured or grown in the area get to their destinations safely. The airport building houses a variety of restaurants, pubs, banks services, and car rental companies.
