Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary
Description
Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic organisation that provides a refuge for South Africa’s big cats. Having recently relocated adjacent to Plett Puzzle Park in Plettenberg Bay, the sanctuary aims to educate visitors and conserve a variety of large predators from South Africa and around the world.
The sanctuary was initially established in 2005 near George. It was relocated to Mossel Bay in 2007 for bigger premises, and more recently, to Plettenberg Bay. Since then, it has become a popular tourist attraction for big cat enthusiasts visiting the Garden Route.
Visiting Jukani is not only about seeing the fascinating animals; it is also about learning and gaining awareness about the wild cats in our country that need our help. Follow experienced and trained guides who will take you on an informative tour of the sanctuary and introduce you to all of the feline and other wildlife “family†members.
What to see:
- Snake enclosure offering exotic and indigenous snakes, such as the yellow anaconda, black mamba, western back diamond rattlesnake, viper, black and red Mozambiquan spitters, and a Gaboon adder.
- Wildlife Sanctuary offering a range of wild cats, such as hand raised lion (White and Tawny), tiger (White, Siberian, and Bengal), hyena, puma, cheetah, jaguar, caracal, serval, as well as African wild dog, gorilla, honey badger, and zebra.
